Today, the 4th of July, is Independence Day in the United States. It was 233 years ago, in 1776, that our Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress paving the way for the formation of a new nation. Throughout the country there will be parades, picnics, fireworks, and concerts to celebrate our country's birthday.

The design shown below, America Is My Nation, seems like a fitting one to show today. The verse, "..... is my name, ..... is my dwelling place, and ..... is my nation", is a common one found on old samplers.

Realizing that Ohio, my state, is one of the shortest in word length, there are directions in the chart package of what to do if your state name is longer. The same applies to your name.

Stitchers from other countries can easily adapt this sampler for their own country by either leaving off the US flag to the right of the house or substituting their own county's flag.

Margaret, This is a quick stitch. With your turbo needles you probably could do it in a day!

It's a charming design. I love the phrase because one of my closest friends named her blog after it! :D

This is a beautiful design. I am sure you meant 233 years in your post and not 223. :)

Thank, Katie, for catching my faux pas...I've just corrected the post.

Maybe I can chalk it up to the fact that I didn't sleep well the night before....ended up getting up at 2am!!
