more from the Heartland Stitch Counters retreat

Sorry that I haven't had the opportunity until now to post more photos from the Heartland Stitch Counters retreat in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. This was the 17th year that this retreat has taken place. There were 66 needleworkers present, including quite a few mother-daughter combinations.

This is the scene we saw on Saturday morning. Luckily everyone arrived on Friday before the snow did. We certainly "enjoyed" a white first day of spring.
Here's a view of the conference center where we had the class.
Look at my car! Is it really springtime in Missouri? An attendee's car--don't you love her license plate?
Here is a view of the classroom--don't the stitchers look intent? One of the retreat organizers decided we needed to stretch, so she led us in a series of exercises. In class we worked on the needleroll, which acts as a small "examplar" for the sampler/huswif. The sampler/huswif has 28 different stitches, and the majority of those are on the needleroll.

Can you believe the progress Renee made in such a short period of time? I bet by now she has the needleroll completed. She's all bundled up because I caught her as she was ready to leave the retreat. Here I am with the retreat committee (minus one who had to take someone to the airport) after we were all packed up and ready to leave.
Thanks ladies for asking me to be part of such a wonderful event.

Even though it snowed in the spring I bet it made for a cozy stitching atmosphere! It looks like everyone had a wonderful time, and thanks for sharing this Ellen!

Looks like you all had a great time and even better that you were indoors looking at the snow outdoors.

Hi -- Thanks for the pictures. Looks as if it were a great weekend despite the snow. I hated to miss, but my husband just got out of the hospital and sometimes life interferes with stitching. Hopefully, I will be able to make it next year.
