Earlier today I got a sweet note asking if everything was okay because I have not updated my blog in quite some time. Everything is okay I have just been "missing in action" (MIA). So sorry,
Last month, Tom and I spent several weeks with his father as he recovered from major surgery. It was wonderful to be back in Florida, especially this winter when so much of the US is experiencing such very bad weather.
Knowing that we would be spending quite a bit of time around the house, I took three cross stitch projects and also my laptop computer. I completed Ann Hair as I showed you in my last blog post, but I didn't fare well on the other two projects I took or with my computer. I had pulled the threads and linen for a reproduction sampler. However, after I started stitching the sampler I found a photo of the antique sampler and realized that the thread colors on the reproduction were very different from those on the chart. There was not a good local needlework shop where I could purchase alternate threads, so I had to pack that project away. Then I pulled out another sampler, Snooty Parrots. I had changed thread colors and discovered that I really didn't like my choices. What a disappointment! I couldn't make much progress on that sampler either. At least I was able to complete a prayer shawl for church and start another.
I didn't fare very well either with with my computer. A week into our trip, I got one of those dreaded messages on my computer screen about a possible hard drive failure. Tom was able to back up everything on an external hard drive, but he suggested that I shut down my computer until we got back home in hopes that I wouldn't actually have a hard drive failure. So I was without my computer for more than a week. Although I was able to continue reading emails on my tablet, I know that some messages were lost. If you emailed me, and I didn't answer you, you now know why.
Once we got home, we had a busy time getting caught up on things that had accumulated while we were gone for such a long time as well as having the hard drive on my computer and Tom's car windshield replaced.
I'm now busy getting ready for upcoming classes, so please bear with me. Hopefully I will soon be able to do another blog post and get back into the habit.
Thank you to all who were concerned about me. That truly means a lot.

We are all glad that you are just fine. Stitching can be a frustrating hobby when things don't go as you have planned!
How did we ever get along without computers? It's amazing, one little click of a button and we can find out that those we think so much of are O.K., just busy. I hope you never get too busy to post on your blog. You are respected and loved by so many stitcher's.
Have a great time on your big trip! Sorry your two projects didn't work out -- so frustrating! Hard drive failure -- yuck. Glad you got your data all backed up and all.
Oh, I never travel with less than half a dozen WIPS, lol, for just this reason. Glad all is well.
What a pain about the hard drive, glad you were able to back it up.
I hope Tom's Dad is making a good recovery.
I have been where you are with the computer, I hope all is fixed and things are getting back to normal.
