How much fun it was to receive a photo from Pat L. of her Tell Me Ye Knowing sampler! Pat is a member of the Delaware Valley Historic Sampler Guild and is also a prolific and talented needleworker.
Pat wrote, It is so hard to find friendship samplers and I was thrilled
when Ellen designed one. I stitched it
for a dear friend of mine who will be retiring soon - I think it will be soon
as she has postponed the date twice.
I stitched it with the recommended fabric and
threads. However, I did change a few
things. I changed the "his" in
the verse to "her" and I adapted the bottom band so I could place
both my name and my friend's name there.
And I may add a few very tiny motifs there as it looks a little sparse. The space in the row above is awaiting her
retirement date. I enjoyed stitching
this piece as I do all of Ellen's pieces and can't wait to get it framed.
Pat, thank you very much for your note and photo. What a special gift for your special friend! I know that she'll love it, especially with the personalization you added. I hope when you get your friendship sampler framed that you'll send me another photo to share.
