Miscellaneous thoughts and ramblings

Tom arrived home last night, or rather very early this morning (1:15am to be exact), from Jacksonville where he had been helping his parents for the last 10 days. He was exhausted as you can imagine, but we're all thankful that he was able to go there and stay as long as he was needed.

While Tom was gone, I devoted a lot of time to the L. Haworth sampler (a reproduction Ackworth sampler from The Marking Samplar). This is a sweet little sampler and different from the other Ackworth samplers I've stitched. It only has three thread colors so it was a particularly relaxing project. I finished the sampler earlier today. (Don't you love those red flowers?)At the bottom you may be able to make out where I signed my name, city, and the year. This information won't show when the sampler is framed.

You may remember earlier this year seeing a photo of the four other Ackworth samplers I've stitched. I'm hoping that L Haworth will fit on the far right.
When I was uploading the photos from our camera to my computer, I found this photo of Tom. It sure made me smile. Tom's father decided that he needed a device to help him lift Tom's mother if she should fall, so he got this. Tom and his father decided that perhaps his father needed to practice to make sure he would be able to use it correctly if needed. Guess who became his "victim"?

Quite a few of you commented either here or on my Facebook page about my post yesterday concerning May Day. I've decided that leaving flowers on doorsteps is such a lovely thing that I want to do it next year for my neighbors. I just need to remember....I had better put it on my calendar for next year.

I'm so glad Tom arrived home safe and sound. I hope you two can relax for a while now. Congratulations on finishing L. Haworth! And your Quaker wall -- it is just stunning! The use of the same frame on each makes for a beautiful display! I'm envious!

Well at least he was a victim of good humor! LOL

It must be nice to have your husband home. Hope his Father is doing well. I just love all your Ackworth samplers. I am doing the Mary Wigham and seeing all your others is tempting me to try others. Happy stitching.
