Things are certainly quiet around here after having had a (nearly) 3 year old here for a few days!!

Here is Haiden opening up one of his gifts--another car for his train set. Thomas the Tank Engine continues to be very popular with him along with Toy Story.

Yesterday we went downtown to see the wonderful train exhibit that has been an annual Cincinnati Christmas event for 65 years. I wish that photos would better show how spectacular this is!

Then it was off to the Krohn Conservatory to see more trains, Christmas floral displays, and a full size Nativity scene complete with a live donkey, cow, and sheep.

Every year Greg, Haiden, and Carolyn like to have their photo taken in the same spot. Unfortunately we couldn't get a photo of all three of them looking at the camera. If you have a three year old, you probably understand the problem.

Despite having house guests, I've been able to work some more on the Elizabeth Mears' sampler and hope to post some progress photos soon. (I got in quite a bit of stitching each morning while everyone else was still in bed.) I'm now working on the roof of the very large building.

Tomorrow I'll be putting Elizabeth aside for a bit so I can start a new project on the first day of 2011. I'll be stitching on the Ada Mary Hornsey sampler which I plan to have ready for the Nashville needlework tradeshow in February.

My mother always said that whatever you do on the first day of the new year you will do the rest of the year. That's why I plan to get in some serious stitching tomorrow...or so I hope!!

Tom has already started cooking his black-eyed peas for tomorrow. Eating black-eyed peas on New Years Day is a southern tradition and is supposed to bring you luck during the coming year. Tom thinks the peas always taste better the second day so he has now started cooking them a day early.

Haiden is so adorable! I love his hair! He reminds me of my son at that age -- so into trains! And Toy Story too. :D That train display looks spectacular! Glad you all got to visit together. Can't wait to see your new sampler!

Haiden is a big boy now... but still very adorable. Glad you were able to enjoy a few days with him and his parents too of course.
Looking forward to seeing your new sampler.

I'm so glad I just found your blog. I have just moved to Nashville and had no idea about this show. Thanks sooooo much for mentioning it. Is it a wholesale trade show or a retail show?
Great blog by the way.
