Missing in Action?

Sorry it has been so long between my blog posts.  Tom and I went to Alaska in August, and both came home sick.  I don't know what it is other than lots of coughing and head congestion.  (Some folks were calling this the "Denali Grunge".)  We've been home a couple of weeks and still have the bad coughs despite a visit to our doctor and some prescribed meds.

I hope to make up for my blog absence with lots of posts over the next few weeks.  So much has happened, and I have lots of photos from Alaska (scenery, beadwork, and more), and also photos of completed With My Needle projects from some of my readers, a new teaching project and updated teaching schedule, and the Johnny Appleseed Festival last weekend in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where our son and his family live.

Today's photos are of some of the beautiful Alaska scenery.  (I narrowed the hundreds of photos we took down to these.)  We spent one week on land before boarding a ship which took us from Seward, Alaska to Vancouver, Canada.  One of the highlights of the land tour was going to Denali National Park.  Only about 30% of the people who visit Denali (formerly known as Mt. McKinley) actually see the peak due to clouds.  We were part of the lucky 30%.  The weather could not have been better!

Oh, Ellen, those are WONDERFUL pictures!! You were really blessed with that weather. And you got to see a bear!!! And seals!! And...an elk? I did see some whales, but I didn't get any good pictures of them. Those fall colors are stunning, too. Sorry you got sick...Michael has to be VERY careful when we go on cruises...he's very susceptible. He's been quarantined twice! I am paranoid and wash my hands constantly even when I'm home, so I've been safe thus far!

Gorgeous photos! My neighbors just got back from Alaska as well- they were there for a family emergency though. :/ We watched their pets for them and they brought us some goodies. I posted a pic on my blog. :) Hope you are feeling 100% soon! It's hard enough to come back from a fun trip w/out feeling sick too. Can't wait to hear about Ft. Wayne. My dad was born there and my great-grandma lived near there before she passed away.

Wow, such glorious pictures!! How lucky to be among the 30% who get to see Mt. Denali in all its beauty too. So beautiful! I'm so sorry you and Tom came home sick though -- that's no fun at all. Hope you're both feeling better.

Stunning photos! And you saw a bear! Alaska is a trip I definitely want to make one day. I hear it's wonderful to do a land tour along with a cruise. I hope you're both feeling 100% soon - it sounds like it's time!
