A "Magical" Needlebook

I can't believe that it's been three weeks since my last blog post!  Please accept my apologies.  I'll try to do better.  I guess it hasn't helped that we have had two trips during the last three weeks plus I've been sick.  (I'm doing better now.)

Today's photos are from Mary M.,  whom I met in April when I taught for The Sampler Guild of the Rockies in Denver, Colorado.  The Sampler Guild of the Rockies is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.  What an accomplishment!  I was honored when they asked me to design a project to celebrate this special anniversary.

I designed A Sampler Needlebook.  This small needlebook has 17 different stitches!  I guess I know how to pack a lot of different stitches into a small area.

Although the project was originally designed for The Sampler Guild of the Rockies, it's now available to other guilds and shops as a teaching piece.

Here is Mary's completed project.  The first photo shows the front of her needlebook.

Next is a photo showing the front and back covers.

Now look at the inside with a wool needlepage.

Now, close the needlebook, and open it from the other side, and see what happens.  The needlepage has "magically" jumped to the other side.  How much fun is that?

Mary told me how much fun this project and class were.  (In class, she and the others made paper mock-ups of the Jacob's Ladder style needlebook.)  Mary also told me she had lots of fun showing her husband how the needlepage changes sides....like magic!

Thanks, Mary, for the photos of your beautiful work!  I'm so glad you enjoyed creating this project, and I hope that you're now enjoying using your new needlebook.

A Sampler Needlebook is a class project and is not available for retail sale.

I am happy you are feeling better. What a delightful project! I wish the Seattle guild were not so inconvenient for me. ( A few hours and a $30 ferry ride each time I would go.) I need to learn more stitches and sometimes the computer just doesn't do the job for me-like the queen stitch!
