A Stitching We Shall Go!

We recently spent some time in Jacksonville with my father-in-law, and while there I got to spend time with my friends at the Azalea EGA.  It was so good to see them again.

Carol P. and her friends Carol R. and Linda F. drove up from the Orlando area.  I was delighted that Carol brought her completed A Lady's Worke Box that I had taught for the guild a year and a half ago.  As you can see in the photos below, Carol does beautiful work--both stitching and finishing.

In addition to being an excellent needleworker, Carol is very prolific.  You can see other photos of her needlework featured on my blog here and here.

The guild was doing a workshop the day I was there, and I was invited to participate.  The project was a queen stitched scissors sheath designed by Carolyn Standing-Webb.  We each chose our own linen and threads.

Here is the front of my scissors sheath.  I still haven't decided what I will put on the back.  (Please excuse the poor photo.  I'll take a better one once I get the sheath assembled.)

I took Hannah Pepper with me on the trip to Jacksonville.  I saw Carol P.'s framed version on Facebook, and that inspired me to stitch Hannah.  I should have asked her to bring hers to the guild meeting so that I could admire it up close.

I have made lots of progress since I last showed you a photo.  So without further ado, here is Hannah in all her glory.

Beautiful Ellen. I am stitching her also but another Hannah calls me the most. Hannah Carter. Yours is just wonderful. Will never forget the first time I met you and Moira at SL. That was a wonderful day seeing all your wonderful samplers. A great inspiration for me.

What fun to see you are working on Hannah Pepper too, Ellen! I've sworn mine will be finished by the end of the year or I'll die trying. Hope I live to see January....

Glad you had a good visit in Jacksonville.

Your Hannah Pepper is gorgeous. I have the pattern and seeing yours makes me want to start it, but I do so want to start on your design, "A Work'd Pocketbook". I've been in slow motion since I completed the quilt and haven't felt like stitching anything. I know it won't be long until the bug will bite me again and I'll be off and stitching.

Ellen, I loved the photo of you and Carol. You have such a sweet smile.

So glad to have had an opportunity to see you! I hope your trip home was completely uneventful.

I've done a bit of work on my scissors sheath but not much. It's a cute project!

Oh my gosh, Ellen! Your Hannah is absolutely gorgeous! Have you run into any problems with the chart yet? I have the feeling I need to put this on my to stitch list and put it up at the top!
