I was tickled pink that while in the Dallas area I was able to visit The Stitch Niche in nearby Arlington. It was so great to once again see the shop owner, Kathy, and to visit her lovely shop.
The Stitch Niche first opened in 1968. It has been in three locations and has been in its current location for 25 years. Kathy has owned the shop since 1997 and is the fourth owner. Just a few months ago she was able to double her shop size.
Twice a year Kathy offers stitching retreats. In fact, on the day I visited the shop, she was busily getting ready for a retreat the following weekend. The retreats are "four-nighters" and typically 48 needleworkers attend. This weekend, Kathy is trying something new, a lock-in from 6pm-midnight. Hmm, can you imagine being locked in a needlework shop? What fun!
Kathy enjoys having stitchers drop in and stay. She has a table where you can sit and stitch to your heart's content. She told me there are some stitchers who drop in regularly for an hour or two several days a week. In fact, there was one there when I visited.

Lot of fibers...
And luscious linens...
Lots of models on the walls and tables and in display cases...
Lots of pretty frames...
Catching up with Kathy...
Here I am with Doris (a shop employee) who wanted to show me the progress she'd made since Sunday's Long May She Wave class with the Tudor Rose Sampler Guild.
This is an antique sampler that Kathy owns. It has been reproduced for your stitching pleasure.
And here I am with Kathy right before I had to leave.
Kathy, it was so nice to see you again and at long last visit your shop.

Visiting Kathy at the Stitch Niche is a must everytime I visit my daughter in Arlington. Kathy is such a sweet person. I am so happy that she has expanded the shop! I look forward to visiting Stitche Niche 2.0!!

Lovely shop photos Ellen and thanks for the close ups of the contents of the display cabinet. I have one almost identical, I'll have to send you a photo one day.
Beautiful shop! I love those shelves of linens & stitched projects.
Thank you for sharing all the lovely photos.

That shop looks divine! I am so envious of all you stitchers who are blessed with physical stores to browse :) The linens had me droling! :D Thank you for sharing this with us.
It takes me about 40 minutes to get to Kathy's shop…and it is worth the drive! How fortunate to have a brick and mortar needlework shop within driving distance in these times! I love the selection of threads and linen for all my projects. She and her staff are so knowledgeable and helpful... I think I'll go there tomorrow! :)
