Carol stitches Remember Me Sewing Pocket for her friend's special birthday

In February of this year, Carol B. of Baltimore, Maryland and ten needlework friends went to Houston, Texas to surprise their good friend Dixie for her birthday.

Carol made the Remember Me Sewing Pocket as a birthday gift for Dixie. She used 32-count Lambswool linen and Purple Majesty (Weeks Dye Workes) thread. Carol said that when she chose the thread, she didn’t even think about the thread being the color of amethyst, Dixie’s birthstone. Isn’t that a terrific coincidence?

Look how Carol replaced the words “Remember Me” with “Happy Birthday” for Dixie's special birthday, and then she put "2009" in the center cartouche instead of the bird.

I’m sure that Dixie was greatly moved by such a very special gift. I would have loved to have seen her face when she first saw her friends who had come in from all over the country to surprise her.
