Mrs. Waddelow's Huswif

I have been greatly moved by the wonderful comments and enthusiasm for Mrs. Waddelow's Huswif both here and on the WMN Facebook page. Not only do your comments warm my heart, but they also inspire me to dream up new projects.

Yesterday, I showed you Mrs. Waddelow's Huswif folded up. Here is an enlarged photo.
The next photo is of the outside of the huswif. As you can see the design is a simple one and is all stitched in one overdyed thread color. I chose Brick from Weeks Dye Works. This will be a quick stitch.

And now....are you ready to see the inside? I hope you love it as much as I do....sorry to be so giddy!

As you can see in the photo, there are 5 different printed cotton fabrics. Isn't that great fun? I suggest that you first choose your cotton fabrics and then choose your linen and overdyed thread to go with the lining fabrics versus doing it the other way around.

If you want to start choosing fabrics, you only need small pieces except for the fabric you chose for the gathered pocket and the binding on the huswif and the needlebook. You'll need a yard for that. Yes, a yard is right! This is so that you can have a two continuous bias strips--one for the huswif and the other for the needlebook.

A good friend has suggested that Mrs. Waddelow needs some needlework accessories to go with her huswif. What do you think?

On a personal note, I have been able to identify Nicholas's parents, Nicholas Waddelow, Sr. and Mary Marsden Waddelow. Then just this morning, thanks to the internet, I found a man who has additional information on the Waddelows. I am so excited and am waiting in anxious anticipation to see what he sends me.

Thanks, Deb, for your help in fulfilling my vision for Mrs. Waddelow's Huswif.

I know which fabrics I'm going to use already Ellen, I have a layer cake of William Morris, whose designs I just adore, and I can buy a bigger piece at my local fabric store for the binding etc. I can't wait for this to come out. it's gorgeous.

Our Brodery-club is working on a huswif for each of us. We started with hedebo. And work on the inside with the three know forms of hedebo.
