Have you ever been so overwhelmed that you couldn't make a decision? That is exactly what happened when I visited Needlepoint, Inc. (shown in yesterday's blog post) in San Francisco.

I can't remember when I was there, but it was at least ten years ago. Tom was in San Francisco on business, and I had the days free to "play". Our hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of Union Square where Needlepoint, Inc. is located so off I headed one morning.

I had never before seen so many fibers in one place. If I remember correctly, they went from the ceiling to the floor, and that is no exaggeration. I was in the shop for an hour or two (maybe even longer) and was so overwhelmed that I walked out without buying a single skein of thread. Can you believe that?

After I left, I wondered if the employees were curious about the lady who stayed there so long and didn't buy a thing.

Hmm--this reminiscing is making me wonder if perhaps I should have joined Tom on his current trip. (Besides Needlepoint, Inc., Lacis is not too far away.) Unfortunately, this trip came up fairly quickly, and the timing was bad since it was right before I leave to teach in southern California.

Perhaps I can go next time.....at least I can dream.

Oh wow! I'd love to visit Needlepoint Inc. Can anyone go? That would be heaven! I missed your last post somehow. It's funny how Tom thought to take a picture for you! :D

Margaret,

This is a retail shop so anyone can go. They carry lots of brands of thread, not just NPI.

I just found these photos http://stitchspectacular.wordpress.com/2009/02/13/needlepoint-inc/
It looks like they have a new "filing" system from when I was there.

I was there a few years ago too, but I spent too much money. I love the new "filing" system.

I was hoping Tom would be able to swing by the shop while it was open to take some photos of all the fibers....but alas he had a long day, and all I got was a photo taken on his phone of his dinner.
