Ravenglass, Gubbergill, and Fobbles...oh my!

I recently taught three classes at Fobbles in Gubbergill, which is in the Lake District of Great Britain.  What a beautiful part of the world (despite the rainy weather)!  Over the next few days I thought I'd share some photos with you.

I flew into the Manchester airport and then made my way to Ravenglass, a very small coastal town in the Lake District. To get to Ravenglass, I had to change trains in Carlisle. I was quite taken with this fireplace with thistles in the restaurant at the railway station.

Ravenglass, which dates from the 2nd century (yes, that's right—the 2nd century!), is today a very small town with several inns, two pubs, a restaurant, a post office, and railway station. Ravenglass is probably best known today for the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and its proximity to Muncaster Castle.

Next are some views of Ravenglass. I took the first photo on my way down the hill from the train station to the Bay Horse Inn where I stayed.

Next are some views of the waterfront.  It was amazing how much the waterline changed during the day.  At certain times of day the boats are actually on dry land.

Sheep are everywhere!   The hillsides are dotted with them.  And the lambkins were darling!

Here is a view of the remains of the Roman Baths, which are only a short walk from the Ravenglass train station.

And here is my "home away from home", the Bay Horse Inn.

In a few days I'll be adding photos from my classes. Thank you to all the lovely ladies who attended. It was so wonderful seeing old friends and making new ones!

What wonderful photos..they brought back memories as I visited Ravenglass and Muncaster Castle 2 years ago. And I also saw Bev and Fobbles -what a fabulous shop.
I LOVE the Lake District: it is where my cousins live so have been there loads and loads of times.
Just wish I could have joined you this year.
